2015 GAME REPORT
4/14 Holmdel Your beloved Huskies enjoyed a classic pitchers' duel on Opening Day. Chris Gendi took the ball and threw 4 effective innings, allowing only 3 hits and 1 walk while striking out 2. John Beukers took over in the 5th and dominated, throwing no hit ball, striking out 4 while only walking 1. Anthony Altomonte paced the offensive performance, going 1 for 1 with a sacrifice, hit by pitch, stolen base & run scored. Jackson Hercek went 1 for 2 with a walk, 2 stolen bases, & scored a run. Ben Palumbo had 2 hits & a RBI. All together, the Huskies collected 6 hits as they grinding out a 3-1 victory. 4/16 Ocean And the bats woke up! Your beloved Huskies pounded 13 hits, including a triple & a double, to capture this game. Add 9 walks, to make 22 baserunners, and it adds up to a dominating performance against a perennial power. Jaysen Kalieta (3 for 4, 2 Runs) and Dan Hirujo (3 for 4, 1 Run) led the offensive explosion. John Beukers (1 for 3, 2 Runs, 2 RBIs, Triple, Walk) took advantage of having baserunners on in front of him. Nick Trapani (1 for 2, 2 RBIs, 2 Walks, Double) also enjoyed hitting with runners in scoring position. Chris Dietrich (2 for 3, 1 Run) collected his first 2 MAMS hits. Matt Silva, Ben Poricelli, & Ben Palumbo each had a hit. Hirujo got the win, pitching 5 innings with 3 strikeouts & no walks. 4/24 Thompson Two time defending champion Thompson came to Husky Park & proved why they deserved to win by capitalizing on some early Husky mistakes to grab a quick 6 run lead. But you can't measure the heart of a Husky! Refusing to give up the game, your beloved Huskies battled & battled, scoring 3 runs while holding Thompson scoreless to make it an exciting finish. Jackson Hercek & John Beukers led the charge, with Jack scoring twice & Beuk collecting 2 RBIs. Brendan Martin, Dan Hirujo, Jay Kalieta, & Ben Palumbo each had a hit. 4/27 Bayshore Eleven Husky players collected a hit in this 9-3 victory. Ben Palumbo led the way offensively, going 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs. Anthony Altomonte also helped pace the offense with 2 Runs, 2 Stolen Bases, and a RBI. Chris Gendi (1 for 2, Run) threw 5 1/3 effective innings to secure the win. Jaysen Kalieta (1 for 1, Run, Walk) pitched the final 1 2/3, striking out 3 with no walks, to shut them down. 4/28 Wall Jimmy Nichols took the ball & pitched adequately, keeping his team in the game & in line for a win. But, your beloved Huskies left 10 men on base, including the bases loaded twice, as they just couldn't muster that big hit.Ben Poricelli led the charge, going 2 for 3 with a Walk & Run. Griffin Falco & Chris Dietrich each collected a Hit & RBI. Devin Williams smacked a double & scored a run. Zaire Williams, RJ Clifton, & Christian Rivera each had a hit. RJ also pitched the final 3 1/3 innings, striking out 3, no walks, as he held them scoreless. 4/29 Hazlet Dan Hirujo led the way in this well played game. Dan pitched 4 2/3 innings, holding a powerful Hazlet team to 1 run. He also dominated at the plate, going 3 for 3 with 3 Runs, a double, hit by pitch, stolen base, and a RBI. Jackson Hercek played a stellar center field while enjoying a great day at the plate. Jack had 2 hits, including a double, scored 2 Runs, had 2 stolen bases, and a RBI. Anthony Altomonte had 3 hits, 1 Run, 2 stolen bases, and a RBI. Brendan Martin also had 2 hits, 2 stolen bases, & 2 RBIs. Ben Poricelli had 2 RBIs on 2 squeeze bunts. Chris Caragliano & John Beukers each had a hit & 2 stolen bases. John also picked up his first save as he closed the game. Chris Gendi & Jaysen Kalieta also picked up a hit & RBI in this offensive explosion. The defense was also on point. Altomomte & Kalieta each had an outfield assist & your beloved Huskies turned a huge double play to end a Hazlet rally. 5/1 Colts Neck Jackson Hercek led the way, going 2 for 2 with 2 Runs, 2 RBIs, & a stolen base as your beloved Huskies dominated this game. Chris Gendi also went 2 for 2 with a double. Chris also pitched effectively for the win. Dan Hirujo (1 for 2. Run, Double, 2 RBI), Chris Caragliano (1 for 2, 2 RBI), Griffin Falco (1 for 2, RBI), John Beukers (1 for 2, RBI), Nick Trapani (1 for 2, Triple, Walk, RBI), Jaysen Kalieta (0 for 0, 2 Walks, 2 Runs, Stolen Base), RJ Clifton (1 for 2, Run, Stolen Base) & Devin Williams (1 for 2) all contributed in this win. Christiam Rivera pitched the final 3 innings to secure the game. 5/5 Thorne The offensive juggernaut that is the MAMS Baseball Team was on full display to Thornes chagrin. Your beloved Huskies pounded 19 hits in this lopsided game. Once again, Jackson Hercek led the way. Jack went 2 for 2, with 2 triples (in the same inning), scored 2 Runs, was hit by a pitch, and had 4 RBIs. Anthony Altomonte (2 for 3, 2 Runs, 3 RBIs), Jaysen Kalieta (2 for 3, 2 Runs, RBI), John Beukers (2 for 3, 2 Runs), Chris Caragliano (2 for 2, 2 Runs, 2 RBIs, SB), Chris Gendi (2 for 2, 2 Runs, 3 RBIs, Double), & Devin Williams (2 for 3, 2 Runs) enjoyed huge days at the plate. Dan Hirujo & Ben Palumbo also collected a hit. Chris Gendi earned his 3rd win of the season. Chris was backed up by Jackson Hercek & Colin Meany, each tossing scoreless baseball in their MAMS pitching debut. 5/6 Neptune Anthony Altomonte enjoyed a big day at the plate to pace your beloved Huskies in this ugly win. Anthony collected 3 hits, scored a Run, stole a base, & had 3 RBIs to lead his team. Jackson Hercek went 2 for 4 with a Run, SB, & RBI. Chris Caragliano (1 for 2, Run, 2 SB), Jaysen Kalieta (1 for 2, Walk), John Beukers (1 for 3), Matt Silva (1 for 2, Run, Walk, SB), & Ben Palumbo (Run, Walk, Sac, RBI) all contributed to this win. Ben executed a squeeze bunt, where he almost had to dive for the ball, to add an insurance run in the fifth. Jimmy Nichols picked up his first MAMS win by pitching the first 3 innings. 5/7 Holmdel In an extraordinary game that had extraordinary plays and 5 lead changes, your beloved Huskies found a way to win. Chris Caragliano (2 for 3, Run, 3 SB) put his team on his back & willed it to victory. Tied in the 7th, CC singled & stole second. John Beukers (1 for 3, Double, Run) had a productive at bat & hit the ball to the right side to advance CC to third. In an extraordinary play, on a botched squeeze, CC still managed to score by stealing home. Anthony Altomonte (1 for 3, Run, SB), Jackson Hercek (1 for 3, SB), Chris Gendi (1 for 2, SB), Matt Silva (1 for 3, Run, SB, RBI), & Nick Trapani (1 for 2, RBI) all had timely hits. Dan Hirujo pitched 4 1/3, striking out 3 while walking 1. Beukers followed Hirujo, and after surrendering 2 walks, absolutely dominated the Holmdel lineup, striking out 5 in 2 2/3 innings. The defensive play of the game was handed in by Matt Silva in the 6th. With 2 outs & the go ahead run on second, Holmdel hit a liner to right. Matt got a great jump & made a diving, shoe string, snow cone catch to end the inning & give the Huskies the chance to win. 5/12 Ocean Your beloved Huskies had awesome pitching and defense, but could only scatter 6 hits & 3 walks in this exciting game. John Beukers took the ball & pitched incredible. Beuk threw 5 innings, striking out 5, walking none, & giving up only a first inning run. Dan Hirujo pitched the last 2 innings, striking out 1, no walks, while surrendering only 1 hit. Beuk also led the offense, going 2 for 3. Anthony Altomonte, Jackson Hercek, Chris Caragliano, & Chris Gendi each had a hit. But this game was about pitching & defense. Caragliano & Colin Meany turned a vital 4-6-3 double play in the 4th to end a scoring threat. In the 6th with a man on first, Hercek caught a deep fly ball in center & fired a strike to first for another crucial double play. But, at the plate, the Huskies just could not muster that crucial hit to score a run in this 1-0 loss. 5/13 Neptune This was a tough game, still hard to talk about it. Jackson Hercek & John Beukers each had 2 hits. Jack also scored 2 Runs, stole 4 bases, & had a RBI. Dan Hirujo, Brendan Martin, Anthony Altomonte, Colin Meany, & Ben Palumbo also had a hit in this close game. But, the Husky pitchers consistently fell behind in the count & Neptune had the luxury of sitting on fastballs & made us pay with a dramatic 2 run walk-off home run to end the game. 5/18 Long Branch All 22 players contributed to this lopsided victory with 14 different Huskies scoring & 12 different players getting a hit. Jimmy Nichols pitched 4 innings, struck out 1, & only let in 2 runs, for the win. Chris Caragliano made his pitching debut with a solid inning. Colin Meany asked me to mention his name in the Game Report. 5/20 Thompson Your beloved Huskies jumped out to an early lead, but Thompson never stopped hitting & took control of the game, that they would not relinquish, in the 4th inning. Anthony Altomonte (0 for 1, 3 Walks, 2 SB, Run) was on base all day. Dan Hirujo (2 for 3, Run, RBI), Jackson Hercek (1 for 4, 2 SB), Chris Caragliano (1 for 2, Run, 2 Walks, SB), Brendan Martin (1 for 3, Double, 2 RBI), & Ben Palumbo (1 for 2, Walk, 2 SB) were productive at the plate. 5/21 Long Branch Your beloved Huskies closed out the 2015 season with a nice victory.
