2018 GAME REPORT
4/11 Long Branch
Your beloved Huskies opened the 2018 season in dominant fashion. Jacob Brigandi (1 for 3, R) took the ball & shut down their lineup for 4 innings. Dominic Manzella (0 for 0, BB, RBI) pitched effectively for the final 3 innings to ensure the win. Jack Lacovara (2 for 3, 2 R, RBI) & Joey Bodin (0 for 0, 3 BB, 3 R) paced the Huskies offensively. The big hit was supplied by Joe Reinhold (1 for 3, 2B, 3 RBI). In the 5th with the bases loaded, Mojo rocketed a shot in the gap to clear the bases & break open the game. Brendan Falco (1 for 4, SB, R) & Sean Hart (1 for 1, RBI) also collected hits.
4/18 Thorne
In a game already deemed an instant classic, your beloved Huskies never gave up, overcame 2 deficits, & won 3-2 in a 9 inning thriller. Jacob Brigandi (0 for 4, RBI) pitched 5 strong innings to cement his 'Ace' status on this pitching staff. AJ Fumarola (2 innings, 2 K, 2 BB), Dominck Manzella (Win, 1 inning, 1 BB), & John Kurschner (Save, 1 inning, 1 K) all pitched effectively to hold Thorne to 2 runs. Jack Lacovara (2 for 4, 2 Runs), Andrew Vilcjez (2 for 2, Run, RBI, Double, 2 BB), & Joe Reinhold (2 for 3, RBI, BB) carried the Huskies offensively. Brendan Falco (1 for 2, BB) enjoyed a great game at the plate while playing stellar defense at shortstop.
4/20 Ocean
Your beloved Huskies pounded 15 hits, coupled with 3 Walks, to offensively dominate this game. Jacob Brigandi (4 for 5, R, 2 RBI) & Joe Reinhold (3 for 4, Double, 2 RBI, BB, R) led the charge. Joey Bodin (2 for 4, 2 R), Jarrett Norman (2 for 5, R, 2 RBI), Jack Lacovara (1 for 5, 2 R), Brendan Falco (1 for 4, R, 2 RBI), Matt Gizzi (1 for 3, RBI), & Jack Sassa (1 for 3) all collected hits. Andrew Gendi scored 2 runs. Reinhold earned the Win, pitching 4 solid innings as John Kurschner picked up his second save of the season.
4/23 Colts Neck
Almost every team, during the course of every season, has one game where not much goes right. This was that game for your beloved Huskies. Jack Lacovara (2 for 4, Double, R) & Jarrett Norman (2 for 4, 2 RBI, R) led the team offensively. Joe Reinhold (1 for 3, R, BB), Jacob Brigandi (1 for 3, R, RBI, BB), Matt Gizzi (1 for 2, 2 R, RBI, BB), Jack Sassa (1 for 2, R, BB), & Tristian McNerny (1 for 2, BB) all collected hits in our first loss this season.
4/24 Holmdel
In what is proving to be a difficult week, your beloved Huskies again played poorly & dropped another game. Jack Lacovara (2 for 3, Double) enjoyed a great game hitting, behind the plate, & pitching. Joey Bodin (1 for 2), Joe Reinhold (1 for 3), Jarrett Norman (1 for 2, Double) & Matt Gizzi (1 for 2) accounted for all our hits. But, you can't measure the heart of a Huskie, so don't be surprised when this team rebounds and puts forth a monumental effort in our next game!
4/27 Thompson
Jack Lacovara (1 for 3, R, SB) & Joe Reinhold (1 for 2, Double, R, SB, BB) led the team offensively in this lopsided loss. Jarrett Norman walked twice & Joey Bodin walked & scored a run.
5/2 Hazlet
After spotting Hazlet 7 runs in the first inning, your beloved Huskies rebounded nicely and made this a ball game. Jack Lacovara (3 for 4, R, SB), Joe Reinhold (2 for 4, R), & Brandon Falco (2 for 3, Double, R, RBI) paced the Huskies offensively. Joey Bodin (1 for 3, R, BB), Jacob Brigandi (1 for 4, RBI), Jarrett Norman (1 for 3, R, BB, SB), John Kurschner (1 for 1, R, SB), Jack Sassa (1 for 3, RBI), Tristian McNerny (1 for 3), & Andrew Gendi (1 for 3) all also collected a hit.
5/4 Neptune
The bats finally woke up! Tristain McNerny (3 for 3, BB, 3 R, RBI) enjoyed a career day at the plate. John Kurschner (2 for 2, BB, R, 2 RBI), Joey Bodin (2 for 3, 2 Doubles, 2 R, 3 RBI, SB), & Joe Reinhold (2 for 4, BB) all hit the ball well. Jack Sassa (1 for 1, R), Branden Falco (1 for 3, BB, RBI), & Jack Lacovara (1 for 5, 2 R, RBI, SB) also had hits, with Falco playing stellar defense at third. But the true story of this game was pitcher Jacob Brigandi. Brigandi took the ball & completely shut down a powerful, second place, Neptune lineup. He threw a complete game victory, striking out 5 with no walks.
5/8 Long Branch
In a feat rarely seen in today's baseball, Joe Reinhold dominated on both sides of the plate. Reinhold (2 for 3, 2 Doubles, 3 RBI) hit bombs all day as he pitched effectively thru 4 innings. Tristian McNerny (2 for 3, 3 R, RBI, BB, 2 SB) is officially the hottest hitter on the planet. Jack Lacovara (1 for 2, 2 R, 2 BB, SB), Joey Bodin (1 for 2, 2 R, RBI, BB, SB), Jarrett Norman (1 for 4, 2 RBI), Matt Gizzi (1 for 3, R, BB), John Kurschner (1 for 2, R), AJ Fumarola (1 for 2, R, RBI, BB), & Andrew Gendi (1 for 1, 2 R) all had good days on the ball field. Dom Manzella pitched the final 3 innings to ensure the victory.
5/10 Holmdel
Your beloved Huskies banged out 14 hits, coupled with 9 walks, to take control of this game. Jack Lacovara (2 for 4, 2 R, RBI, BB), Joey Bodin (2 for 4, R, RBI, BB), Tristian McNerny (2 for 3, 2 R, 2 RBI, BB, 2 SB), & Matt Gizzi (2 for 2, 2 R, RBI, BB, SB) led the hit brigade. Joe Reinhold (1 for 4, R, BB), Jarrett Norman (1 for 3, R, RBI, 2 BB), Brandan Falco (R, 2 RBI, BB), John Kurschner (1 for 1, R, SB), Dom Manzella (1 for 2, R, BB), & Frank Randazzo (1 for 3, R) also collected hits. AJ Fumarola pitched 3 2/3 innings in relief to earn the win.
5/15 Thorne
In a game shortened due to storms, your beloved Huskies could only muster 4 hits & 2 runs in 4 innings against Thorne's ace pitcher. Jarrett Norman (1 for 1, Double, R, RBI, BB) led the way. Joe Reinhold (1 for 2, Double), Jack Lacovara (1 for 3, Double), & Matt Gizzi (1 for 2, SB) collected the other hits. Thorne capitalized on 7 pitched walks & poor defense to take this game.
5/18 Bayshore
Yes! Your beloved Huskies put together a complete game on all sides of the ball. Jack Lacovara (3 for 4, Double, R, 2 RBI, SB), Joe Reinhold (2 for 4, Double), & Matt Gizzi (2 for 3, R) led the team offensively. Jarrett Norman (1 for 4), Joey Bodin (BB), Jacob Brigandi (2 BB), & John Kurschner (BB) were also on the bases. The Huskies also turned in a great defensive game. Charlie Kriska handled the hot corner expertly, Gizzi made every play at short, & Bodin/Sean Hart/Dom Manzella locked down second. Tristian McNerny, Norman, Kurschner, Frank Randazzo, & Andrew Gendi were solid in the outfield all game. Jacob Brigandi proved his 'Ace' status by throwing his second complete game, striking out 3 with no walks, in this 3-1 victory.
