One blow-up inning. Your beloved Huskies avoided that 1 blow-up inning all season, until the last game. Going into the 5th inning, the Huskies held a 4-1 lead. Then Thompson put up 7 to take & keep the lead to win 8-6. Thanks to all the 8th graders for a great 10 win season: Joe Beukers, Wayne Bllom, Jake Burlew, John Carelli, Tom Collazo, Kyle Gamble, Griffin Leibell, Antonio Martinez, Rai Nagy, Kyle Nusbaum, & Mike Trapani.

Ocean 5/16
Wow! You can't measure the heart of a Huskie. After spotting Ocean 2-0 & 4-2 leads, your beloved Huskies battled & battled all game, never giving up, always thinking a chance would come. Going into the bottom of the 6th down 2 runs, Jake Burlew worked a walk & Austin Nappi singled. A past ball moved them to 2nd & 3rd. Rai Nagy then belted a 2 run double to tie the game & eventually force extra innings. Nagy, on the mound, also threw
3 scoreless innings in relief of Burlew. In the bottom of the 8th, against Ocean's #1 pitcher, with 1 out, Nagy singled. On the 3rd pitch, Mike Trapani crushed a BOMB, an absolute rocket, that plated Nagy with the walk-off winning run. Antonio Martinez, Tom Collazo, John Carelli, & Matt Fitzsimmons each had at least 1 hit also in this dramatic win. You just measure the heart of a Huskie!

For 7 innings and 42 outs, the Huskies and Hazlet threw everything but the kitchen sink at each other. Your beloved Huskies delivered the knockout blow and came home with the win. In a failed squeeze attempt, Martinez still managed to score! Then Mike Trapani singled home Collazo to finish the scoring. Hazlet threatened in their half of the 6th, but a nifty 6-4-3 (Collazo - Salot - Gamble) double play shut them down. The 7th saw Hazlet threatening again with 1st & 2nd & no outs. Burlew got a strike out. Then Martinez made a diving catch in shallow center that not many other people on the planet can make. Jake finished the game in style, striking out their leadoff hitter to ice this instant classic.
