Matawan 6...Neptune 1

The girls soccer team opened the 2013 with a convincing 6-1 victory over Neptune at Strathmore Field. Alina Ogurek opened up the scoring with an unassisted goal 12 minutes into the match. Amanda Hunter followed a minute later with the first of her two goals and two assists on the day. Melissa Ruggerio scored her first MAMS career goal and Courtney Wassmer and DeAnna Lynch followed with insurance. Sarah Lapinski, Bryn Radvanski, and Morgan Jones assisted on goals in a great offensive effort. Kelly Keegan was solid in goal for the Huskies.
 
Matawan 5...Long Branch 3

The Huskies traveled down to Long Branch and returned with a 2-0 record after a hard fought 5-3 victory. Long Branch lit the scoreboard first, but Morgan Jones answered with her first goal of the year. Amanda Hunter continued her hot start as she scored twice and added an assist. Courtney Wassmer and Alina Ogurek each collected their second goal in as many games. Sarah Incorvaia and Jessica Tragale were solid defensively and each assisted on a goal. DeAnna Lynch relieved Kelly Keegan in the goal for the Huskies' victory.
 
Matawan 1...Thompson 0 (2 OT)

Matawan defeated Thompson for the first time since 2007 and ended a 5 game scoreless drought against them as Brianna Urbanski found the back of the net with 2 minutes left in the second overtime. The Huskies controlled play for much of the game and were aided by strong defense play by Cate Toomey, Dana Morgan, Jessica Tragale, and Sarah Incorvaia. Amanda Hunter notched her 4th assist of the season and Kelly Lambertson earned her first MAMS win and shutout in goal.
 
Bayshore 1...Matawan 0
The Huskies were handed their first defeat of the season at the hands of a strong Bayshore squad. Although Matawan had their opportunities, they could not find the back of the net. All girls showed great competitiveness in defeat.
 
Matawan 4...Hazlet 2
The Huskies, down 3 starters due to injuries, displayed grit and heart as they rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat Hazlet 4-2. Morgan Jones got the Huskies on the board as she found the back of the net from a feed from Amanda Hunter. Brianna Urbanski then scored 3 unanswered goals to lead Matawan to victory. Sarah Lapinski and Dana Morgan tallied assists and Emma Garofalo was solid in her first MAMS start. Kelly Lambertson was again stellar in goal.
 
Ocean 2...Matawan 1 (OT)
Alina Ogurek notched an unassisted goal 4 minutes into the second half to give Matawan a 1-0 lead. Unfortunately, the Huskies were unable to protect this lead as Ocean tied the game and then won in OT on a Golden Goal.
 
 
 Colts Neck 2...Matawan 0
The Huskies were unable to muster any offense as they were shut out by Colts Neck to fall to 4-3 on the season.
 
Matawan 3...Thorne 1
Courtney Wassmer opened the scoring with an assist from DeAnna Lynch and the Huskies never looked back as they got back in the winning column with a 3-1 victory over Thorne. Amanda Hunter notched her 5th goal of the season and Morgan Jones tallied her 3rd with Alina Ogurek collecting both assists. Kelly Keegan was stellar in goal in only allowing a PK as time expired. Matawan's defensive unit of Kelly Lambertson, Dana Morgan, Cate Toomey, and Jessica Tragale again were very solid in front of goalkeeper Keegan.
 
Holmdel 1...Matawan 0
The Huskies controlled the flow of the game for 58 minutes but were deflated by a late goal on a beautiful header off a corner kick to lose 1-0. 
 
Matawan 4...Long Branch 1
Long Branch jumped out the the early 1-0 lead but Matawan responded with 4 unanswered goal to improve to 6-4 on the season. Amanda Hunter scored twice to increase her team lead to 7 goals. Sarah Incorvaia scored and notched an assist on a corner that Meghan Wassmer converted. Morgan Jones also picked up an assist as the Huskies remained standing tall after a physical battle with the Green Wave. Courtney Wassmer, Dana Morgan, Kelly Lambertson and Incorvaia all played solid in the middle. Cate Toomey and Jess Tragale held their own defensively on the outside. Kelly Keegan was strong in goal once again.
