2020 Game Reports

Hazlet 5...Matawan 1

The Huskies opened up the 2020 season with a 5 to 1 loss to Hazlet. Nene Konate scored the lone goal for the Huskies making the score 2-1 going into the half. Unfortunately, the Huskies could not muster any offense as they allowed 3 goals in the second half. 

 

Thompson 3...Matawan 0

The Huskies were unable to find any combinations offensively as they dropped this one-sided match to Thompson.

 

Matawan 0...Bayshore 0

Matawan and Bayshore battled for a 70 min stalemate as each team left with a point in this 0-0 tie. Alexa Scarpinato was stellar in goal as she made numerous saves off of point blank shots. Ella Frye, Bianca Rivera, Paitynn Cali, and Hannah Mandeville played a strong game on the Huskies' back line. The Huskies played to a 2-2 tie in extra time as Alexa Scarpinato and Rylie Signorile found the back of the net.

 

Holmdel 6...Matawan 2

The Huskies dropped a 6-2 tilt to the Hornets after trailing 2-1 at half. Gianna Ascoli was credited with the first goal which caromed off a Holmdel defender to tie the game 15 minutes in. After playing a tight first half, Holmdel exploded for 4 goals in the second half to cruise to victory. Nene Konate scored the second goal for Matawan after finding a loose ball off an Ascoli shot for her second goal of the season. 

 

Matawan 4...Neptune 1

Isabelle Stonesifer scored twice and added an assist to lead the Huskies to their first victory of the 2020 season. Nene Konate also found loose balls in the box and deposited them into the back of the net for her team-leading 4th goals of the season. Gianna Ascoli notched two assists and Lily Monico and Ella Frye each chipped in with an assist of their own. Alexa Scarpinato was stellar in goal as Matawan played their best game of the season. Paitynn Cali scored in extra time to close out the game.
